Finding The Right Moving Truck

Once a homeowner has really decided to move they will find it a very important time to get the right moving truck for transferring their stuff to their new home. To make sure you are getting the best deal possible we have put together a few useful tips to find you the best moving truck possible.

Identifying The Location:

Hiring the right moving truck depends upon the new location to which you are planning to move. When a seller approaches a rental moving truck, he is confronted with the query of locality of the new house. If the moving distance is close then it shouldn’t incur much cost of transferring, but if it’s far away from your current location then moving trucks can charge considerable charges that could run up the budget very quickly.  This is one of the biggest mistakes people make.

Cost Factor:

Cost of charges vary from truck to truck depending upon the size and type of the moving truck along with other factors like location, distance, insurance and amount of belongings to be moved from the old house to the new house. Certain truck rental services tend to lower their charges at the end of the month or during specific weeks of the month so house movers can anticipate such opportunities to move on these specific days to avoid extra charges.  It’s important to call people and figure out if companies do this.  I have found that local companies are much more flexible on pricing then large nationwide chains.  But you would have to return the truck and for long moving spans this doesn’t really work.

Capacity:

Before hiring a rental moving truck, make a rough estimate for capacity required to arrange your things appropriately in it. The right size of the truck with right capacity for overall stuff you have will have to be selected so that the housing inventory gets into the truck container the first time instead of making repeated shifts that will incur more time as well as cost. Try putting all your stuff in one room so you will know the approximate size of everything.  Even if you have to put everything into the middle of every room and add them together this will be a huge part in picking the right moving truck to move your home.

Insurance Issues:

In order to assure the safety of the belongings, truck rental companies offers themselves the insurance protection to fulfill the loss in case of any contingency or accidents that could happen. I would recommend that you always find a moving company that offers this on their trucks. This is a must if you are having them do the moving for you.  You want to protect yourself in every way possible.

Make sure to check around with SEVERAL moving truck companies to find which one offers the best deal WITH insurance.  Some will quote you an amazing low cost for their moving trucks or moving services only to stiff you on insurance. Pick a moving company that offers reliable and safe service with the negotiable charges. This will be one of the keys to getting a reliable moving company.

Contracts:

Make sure to get the whole cost upfront.  I typically recommend that you agree on a price and sign a contract so that you won’t have to pay any more down the road.  If you are working with a moving truck company that does all the work for you a lot of them agree on a price but will change their minds later down the road.  This will force you to pay more money, especially when they have taken your money and all your stuff is loaded on their truck and they won’t move.  There are countless stories of this happening to customers.  Make sure you investigate your moving truck company.
